Meh, Thrill of Victory just doesn't work for me. It's useless at the beginning of the battle, and towards the end, it's only usable right after Healing Signet.

hmm I go Healing sig, Evis, Ex strike, Thrill of vic which seems to work well.
Thing is Thrill often does 100+ dammage when I use it on armoured cave spiders, so I find a use for it.
DB with Doylak is more spammable with similar dammage + a condition (can be bleeding which is about the only useful one)

1) It was my first successful run. I was being cautious throughout.
2) My Axe is neither 15% nor customised. This slows the killing.
3) I got a truly lousy beach spawn that took 30 minutes to get through. Normally it takes me around 15 minutes to reach the cave.
My next two runs took no more than an hour. Again, that should speed up once I've got the stance axe I need and customised it.

Me and my guildie went in last night just for fun since we're on TS all the time we were both like hey lets practice some adrenaline spikes, so we just kill one spider by healing and charging adrenaline for EXE and EVIS, then we call a spike and the next one is done in 6-8 seconds later, we also chain Shields up the whole time so never have to retreat unless the spiders get into a real big group, but anyways we did a beach and tunnel clearing in 23 minutes flat using coordinated axe spikes and not needing to pace ourselves. I think tonight we'll try for one under 20 minutes either way its funner then being alone.
BTW we both use customized 15>50 axes, so thats +35% dmg so a hint to those who are taking over an hour to do this solo customize a weapon that you don't plan on selling and get that extra 20% dmg to save some time, because as they say: Time is money(even if it is play money)

I think I must be soft. You guys are running in there with the big guns. I am just trying to outlast those damn spiders. I do not have a superior absorption, a great axe that has a name, or a great shield ( i do love my collectors shields though). Here is my safe but slow build,
Sprint
cyclone axe
cleave
I will survive
watch yourself
dolyact
Physical resistance
Healing signet
This build makes up for the lack of superior armor and weapon defense and is nice for slowing down the poison degen. I tried some of the faster builds but I was still taking too much damage from the spiders and poison was a big headache. I can take the fight to them on the beach with this build!
I use a similar build to farm titans outside of Lion's arch. I just change out Sprint for Disrupting chop and elemental resistance instead of physical resistance. I personally love cleave. It is like a good woman, always there when I need it.
Thanks you all for making spiders a fun a profitable undertaking. Racthoh for president! I had a run with 5 shards and a couple of gold items. Are all the gold chaos axes from over there "vs. hexed'' or "while hexed"? Gimme a stance or 15^50 any day.
By the way,
2 Superiors
Strength 14
Axe 12 -13
tactics 12
rest in inspiration.
I hope to make my way up to a fast 40 minute clean-out-the-spot build!

Collectors shield FTW ^^ Danger russ, drop cleave for eviscerate (can cap in sorrows if you dont feel like beating hells precipice) Make sure u ahve one piece of ascalon or knights armor (boots or gloves) thats a huge boost in defense
Just got done with a 6 shards, 10/8 shadow staff, and 4 purple run

Danger, with phys resist and doly sig, watch yourself shouldn't be needed. You can sub in an energy based attack skill for that (power attack, thrill of victory, etc). -2 stance shield, if you don't have it, will help. I run phys resist and doly sig along with -2 stance and major abs and it's 0s, I think even when healing signet-ing (except some 3s).
For weapons, 15% in stance axe from Sir_Pohl_Sanbert with zealous mod and customization would be pretty good. Add a shelter or defense mod and it'll be even better.
With more damage from the extra attack and from the axe (if you don't have 15% + 20% already) would easily speed up the run. As a sidenote I use a sword.

Drop Cleave and I Will Survive, use eviscerate and some other axe skill. Psy-Resistance + Dolyak + Watch Y it's enough ^^
Here is my attributes:
Sword: 16
Tactics: 13
Rest in Insp.
1. Final Thrust
2. Healing Signet
3. Galrath Slash
4. Sever Artery
5. Hundred Blades
6. Watch Yourself!
7. Psy-Resistance
8. Sprint
1 sup sword
1 minor tactics
1 major vigor
1 major absorption
Have used Dolyak before but I will say its waste too use attributes on strength just becouse Dolyak. Use more at swordmanship/axe or tactics.
Watch Yourself and Psy-Resistance is more then enough.
Dolyak is good for people who is doing this for first time, but it can be dangerous becouse the slowdown.
Have found 2 gold Chaos Axes, 1 with 14% (stance) and the other on is 15% (stance), pretty nice but need new mods to make it perfect.

Wow, thanks guys for all the advice. I do need to put a new zealous mode on one of those collector's axes. I have a couple but one is vampiric/fortitude and the other has cruel/19% enchanting so they are not really good for this run. I have avoided eviscerate because it activates melandru's resilence. I also do not have 100 sword elite so i don't run sword.
I did like the idea of dropping watch yourself for an another axe skill. I may try to use a no strength build next. I will survive is just too useful against poison.
New proposed build
sprint
cyclone - break up any healing springs and build adrenaline +decent damage
cleave - nice consistant damage
executioners/power attack/thrill of victory - lovely spike
i will survive - slow down poison - insurance when needing to escape if i get sloppy
dolyacts
Physical resistance
Healing signet
Axe 14
Strength 13
Tactics 12
Rest in Inspiration
two superiors
I do have a ascolon helm on my gladiator armor and major absorption. I favor using executioner's since I will have 13 or 14 in axe with 13 in strength. I will probably have 12 in tactics. Do you guys strongly recommend an energy attack? I have never really used power attack. It may benefit from my decent strength as well.
Thoughts?

power attack works well with cleave, since you can alternate the adrenal and energy based attacks.

To knock the spiders out of Melandru's Resiliance after Sever Artery + Gash I'd imagine.

Absolutely. The difference is 15 AL - a whole shield's worth.
That said, if you're getting 12 damage from Called Shot instead of 3 I think you're missing something else in your equipment or you're not using skills properly. Do you have one piece of Absorption armour, an Absorb rune and a -damage shield?

Actually the difference is only 5 armor (85 + 10 vs 80 + 20). The only time, if any, that you should be getting double digit damage is when you're using healing signet. Other times, it should be 0s, 1s, or 2s.
A shield with -2 in stance combined with a stance should help. One piece of knights or ascalon armor for another -2, and an absorption rune (major is a good deal for money (-2), but minor (-1) would still do, and -3 from superior would be great).
